Tuesday Garden Party 9/23

Welcome to Tuesday Garden Party!
I am sorry this is late.... I put PM instead of AM in the scheduling.
I had been running around town all morning and came home to find the post missing!
This has been the theme of my week.
I have been working on problems with my RSS feed.
Unexpectedly it stopped working last Tuesday
and three posts were not sent out to my email and RSS subscribers.

I tried fixing it all weekend, and finally just did a new feed for my site that works....
so I am asking for your help in moving your email or feed reader to this new link.
I don't want you to miss out on my Fall Home Tour and other fun things coming soon.

Or you can update it on the site at www.creativecountrymom.com
Thanks so much for following and helping me with this!

While I was working on the blog I did a new theme...
It is fall colored, but could be used any time of the year.
I think I will use this for my new business cards as well.
I like to have my info to hand out to new friends I meet.

Okay, lets get to the party!
I will post pics of the garden soon, I promise.

This week’s host is Michelle from Simplify, Live, Love.

Greetings from Eastern Iowa! I hope you are enjoying glorious fall weather this Tuesday, the first official day of fall! Fall is definitely in the air out here on my little homestead. The days are getting shorter and the air is getting cooler - although, it's supposed to be 80 on Friday. I've been busy freezing okra, digging up the last of my potatoes and taking in all of the butternut and acorn squash I grew. Sweet potatoes will be coming out of the garden in the next few days and I'm still harvesting broccoli side shoots and enough tomatoes to get a nice sized pot of sauce every few days.
Potatoes
But my big garden accomplishment this past week has to do with potatoes. Two years ago I read about the no-dig potato planting method in one of my favorite gardening books, the Rodale Encyclopedia of Organic Gardening. This is the second year I have planted my potatoes using the no-dig method and I continue to be very pleased with the results. The first year, I grew over 200 pounds of potatoes, and this year I'm sure I did too even though I have not managed to weigh them. I have three big bushel baskets full of potatoes again this year, just like I got last year and I'm excited to have them to eat all winter again this year. You can read how I store my potatoes and how they fared over the winter last year here.

On to the Tuesday Garden Party's Featured Posts from last week!

1. Garden Up Green - Establishing a Raised Bed - I love the helpful hints Carole provides on starting a raised garden bed! Getting the soil right is sooo important.
2. Sprouts - The Wilder Homestead Heritage Gardens Part 1 - I have to tell you a secret. I have read the whole Little House series multiple times {even as an adult} and I love every single one of Laura Ingalls Wilder's books! My kids and I are headed to New York in a couple of weeks and visiting Malone to see the Farmer Boy home site was on my list of places to visit, BUT - they close the week before we get there. So, I will make do with this tour from Sprouts!
3. Garden Matter - Harvest Tomato Pie - I might try this tonight! It looks so good.
4. Upstairs Downstairs - Free Natural Materials for Fall Decorating - Love the ideas for pretty items you can gather right outside like Okra pods {I happen to have a bunch of them!}! FREE!
5. Michelle's Little Piece of Heaven - Canning Zucchini - I freeze a bit of zucchini, but canning it is an interesting concept!
I loved all the posts last week! Thank you all for continuing to link up to this great party! I can't wait to see what you share this week!

Reclaimed Treasures in the Living Room

Today I wanted to share with you some of the things in our sunny Living Room.
And share how I re-purpose things into home decor.
This metal scoop is a favorite... it makes a wonderful place for my cactus.
It hangs on an antique bracket and even has a faux bird on its perch.

The Gypsy Pearl - A Vintage Camper Tour

Let me introduce you to the Gypsy Pearl...
A vintage camper restyled by The Salvage Sisters of Franklin Indiana.
Today's tour will be hosted by my mom.. Kate.
See, she spends her whole winter in a 5th wheel.
She knows all about camping... well... glamping.
Her's is pretty decked out with a fireplace and granite counter tops...
But my momma fell head over heels for this little darling.
We visited her because she was on display at The Chandelier Market last weekend.

This Morning's Yard Sale Finds...

Hello there... Happy Friday...
I took the girls to school this morning and hit a few
of the city-wide yard sales.
I am funny about yard sales, I have to be in the right mood.
This morning it was in the low 60s and I could not resist.
I had carefully read the adds and went off looking for vintage stuff.
My first score it this very large McCoy pottery piece.
It is larger than it appears, 8 inches tall by 10 inches wide.
I got it for 50 cents... yes, it has a few chips...
but it is worth much more than that.
I have several more McCoy's and love this color.

A Beautiful Foggy Morning and Tuesday Garden Party - 9/9

What a  glorious morning!
We woke up with cool weather in the 50s...
It looks and feels like fall here at the lake.
Scooby is checking out the birds down by the dock.
I love it when the lake looks like this.

Is There A Message Just For You?

Today's post is a bit unusual I guess.
But I wanted to ask you...
Do you have a lucky number?
A special number that means something to you.
Do you put any faith in luck?

Fall Vignette With Vintage Euphoria

I wasn't gonna do it...
I wasn't getting the fall out yet.
I was not going to take more pictures of the sideboard.
Or the baby shoes...
But here I am...
I could not help myself...
 I started decorating for fall....

Looking More Like Fall & Tuesday Garden Party: 9/2

Hey look, it's Tuesday already!
It is time for the #tuesdaygardenparty!
Labor day was a good one here at the lake.
Good food, great friends.... family time.
But once the big 3 day weekend is over....
My thoughts jump full force into fall.
The garden seems to be doing the same thing.
I hate to see summer come to an end... but I have to admit...
I LOVE FALL!

So bring it on... cool weather... everything pumpkin... mums and all.
I hope you are as excited as I am...lol.

Okay, lets start the party...

From your host this week, Jami @ An Oregon Cottage:

I, like many of you, grow lots of hydrangeas - many of them the variety Endless Summer. This type of hydrangea is affected by the acidity of the soil: less acidic soil produces pink blossoms and more acidic turns the blossoms blue (not all varieties are affected by the soil this way).

Since I don't do blue anywhere in my house (and very little clothing besides denim - it's just not my color), you can guess what kind of soil we have here, can't you? Yep, from May through September every blossom that could be pink is blue. Bright, in-your-face blue. So you can imagine how I wait for the fall weather to start changing those blossoms a perfect greenish-pink. With Endless Summer you'll have both on the plant at the same time, since it produces blossoms all season, like the first photo. Whatever - I'm just happy to have some pink-green blossoms to finally bring in to decorate our mantel with a little 'welcome fall' display!

Now to the features from last week's party:

1. This garden is stunning and there's so much inspiration and ideas in the photos shared by Conrad Art Glass Gardens.
2. I loved how this garden carrier was rescued and revived with some chalkboard paint and a twig by Artistic Endeavor 101.
3. How about making potpourri using the flowers from your garden like Penny's Treasures?
4. Delicious looking recipes using garden fresh tomatoes and basil from Annie's Place to Learn.
5. Wouldn't it be great to have a secret sitting area like My 1929 Charmer?
Psst - remember to link back to the Tuesday Garden Party and follow the hosts in order for you to be featured!
