Love vintage doilies and hand stitched lovely's?
Today's post is about a fun way to display them....
This summer I got three large quilting hoops at a yard sale for $1 each.
I had seen online pics with vintage fabric in home decor blogs...
But I wanted to do my own.... with lace of course.
I picked out a few neutral fabrics and cut the edges as close as I could.
The fun part is how to embellish them.
Doilies don't have to be in perfect condition... the ravel adds to the charm.
Primitive is what I would call my hand stitching... but it is secure.
I love the look already but it needs something.
A burlap flower of course!
I made the second one just like it.
And of course.... more lacy flowers.
The third I was feeling brave...
The linen was an open canvas....
So I found lots of pretty things....
And added two doilies and some vintage gloves...
to the buttons and flowers.
So delicate and pretty!
These are the first part of a new vintage statement wall on my stairway.
I don't want anything breakable on this high traffic area.
This is part of the theme I will be doing for the holidays....
vintage textiles and lace for the entry and front room.
I will be adding more goodies like vintage prints as I get to them.
I will be painting some frames and adding the prints soon.
I am having fun deciding what ones to use...
So lets call this part one.... to be continued!
