More Scarves I Made...

Thanks for all you nice comments....  I did all these the same day.
Don't stop me when I am on a roll!
This was one of the shirts that are now way too big.
~Love That~
So I made it into an infinity scarf.
And this one is prettier in person.
I love this fabric, it is green... cream and aqua.
It is warm and very dressy looking in person.
I have a feeling my girls will be stealing this one...

Thanks for popping in....
Happy Turkey Week!

Tutorial----Adjustable Scarf Necklaces!

So I saw this at a Christmas Stroll last weekend.
And it took me all of two seconds to decide I wanted one.
And that I could make it.

Here is the idea.
Say you like scarves, but are one of those that
can never make them lay right.
Or you don't like a bunch of fluff at your face.
You need a scarf necklace.

See it can hang like a necklace....

Or you can move the small bunched up roll of fabric.
So it can fit under a collar of stay down away from your face.

I personally like it bunched at the bottom.
It really does lay like a necklace.

I see me making a bunch of these.
So here is the general idea...

Mine is about 24" long.  So I cut the length to 26".
And I made the the scarf 14" wide.
Iron it folded in half long ways with a 1/2 inch seam.
Turn inside out and iron again.

Then cut a small piece about 3 inches by 14-16 inches.
Iron it long ways like the first.
But this time finish the seam on each end before sewing.
Sew it long ways, then turn inside out.

Now pull your small tube of fabric thru one end of your scarf.
Match ends and sew the scarf together to make it an infinity.
Push the bunched fabric down to cover your seam.

Easy, peasy!

So here is another one I did with a cotton blend fabric.
This time I added some large beads to each end.
I am in love with this pattern.
So here you can see the tight end is at the neck....
And here it is gathered as a necklace at the bottom.

I think the beads really add to it.
Now I need to go find more goodies to work with.

The lady was selling these from $12-20 each.
So I think you need to make a few for you...
and a few for under the tree!

Have a Homemade Christmas Folks!

Add A Bit of Bling--- A Thrift Store Jacket Re-Do!

Today I am sharing a fun makeover I did on a thrift store find!
This jacket was brand new, it had never been unbuttoned and still had store tags.
But I found it at a thrift store for $4.00!
The color was a bit drab.... in between a blue and a grey.
But it fit and it had potential... so home with me it went.
After thinking on it a bit... I decided it needed some bling.
So I had sewn 1/3 inch silver sequins and small pearl beads on.
I just placed then where the flowers were.
In all it took me a little less than an hour.
But that was in front of the tv!
So maybe a little less time if you did it.
I am happy with how it came out.
Now it matches my lace shirt nicely.
If I were to guess, it looks like at least a $40 jacket now.
I love a good deal... :)
So total cost = $4.00 and an hour of my evening.
I had the sequins and pearls in my craft closet...
Now... what else can I bling up now????

I'll keep you posted!

Recycled Blinds in the Kitchen and Miley Turns Two...

Before we dive into Christmas....
I want to show you the "new-to-me" blinds on my patio doors.
These were my Aunts and they had been in my basement for years.
She used them in her last home.
I wasn't sure how I wanted to hang them...
But love how they look now.
They add a bit of light control, but you can still see the lake.
For one of my next projects, I am going to paint these doors.
I think I will do a taupe similar to the material on the blinds.
They have never been painted, and are hard to keep clean.
The top of one of the blinds was ripped a bit...
So I sewed two panels with the material that matches my wallpaper.
I added the little star for now... can take it off later if I want to change things.
Anyway, I am really happy with the overall look.
Total Cost= Free
Love that!
Today is my sweet Miley's 2nd Birthday....
Doggie party all day at the Kroeger House.
She is such a good girl.
I am crazy about my dog, if you can't tell!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Gone Thrifting!~ Found a new Favorite Place in my own Backyard!~

First off!  Hello there.... it's been a bit again hasn't it?
Best of intentions you know!
But the site has been on my mind...
and as you can see....
it's had a bit of a makeover too!
I love the fun new look.
Okay, I have had these pics for almost two weeks.
What was my hold up?

I cannot find the name of this place!

It is on Old Indiana Hwy 64 near English Indiana.
That is as good as I can tell you.
Hopefully a reader will help me out.
The sign looks like "MidWay" or "Midwest".
Anyways.... it is about an hour and a half from home.
It is very artsy and over the top cute things outside.
I love this kind of stuff, but don't really have anything like this.
But it was done very well, and I could see it becoming addictive to collect.
Like I need to start a new collection of ANYTHING!
But this is where my heart started to flutter...
TTHE POTTERY!
Oooohhhhh.... so many choices....
I fell in love with this blue one... I am still in a big blue phase in the garden.
And these would be perfect on my deck!
I'll take them all... who am I kidding?

Okay, all my Christmas decorating is pretty much done.
I am holding out till after Turkey day to share.
I may end up redoing everything by then!
Lol...Thanks for stopping by....Brooke

The Beauty Out My Back Door....

This week the sunrises have just been wonderful here at the lake.
I love it when the colors just glow in the fall.
Reno is very curious what I am up to.
But I wanted to show you how pretty it is in our backyard this week.
And of course, some shots of the boys is nice too.
The colors are fading fast.  Enjoy them while the last I'm afraid.
Is there anything prettier than a horse and a lake?  Lol...
The view from our deck.
Okay, I gotta get off here.
I am meeting a friend to get some new houseplants!
Someone is getting rid of over 50 plants.
We need a truck to haul them all...
How cool is that?
I'll post my goodies later to share.
