Make A Chicken Wire Lampshade!

Here is a fun, quick project that I want to share with you today!

Do you have any old lampshades that are just not right for your decor?
These were mine, they were nice, but always too dark for me.
And don't get me started about the DUST!

So lets do something about it, let's get CREATIVE!

Okay, maybe you don't just have these setting around... or you might just be like me and do!
Chicken wire is great to have, I use it in the garden and
have been seeing it all over Pinterest in home decor!

I have more projects with it coming soon.... <3

Okay first you remove all the material from your old shade....

Then you give yourself a nice size section of wire... Mine was 10 inches by 30 inches.

Be careful!  It can be sharp on those edges!

I used my jewelry pliers... love those things... but you probably have something like this in your stash!

Just find each place it meets and bend.... bend.... bend.

Neatness does not count in this... it is very forgiving!

I am writing this thinking how cute that shape would be around a planter....
I am glad I have a munch of wire!

Don't be nervous, you cannot mess up, it is really easy to bend and shape.
Just squish.... squish... squish it into the size of your shade.

Obviously I had a bit more shaping to do... but you get the idea!

If you have some primer.... here is the time to use it.
Of course, I did not...
and I ended up doing three coats.
But it looks great...
and I love the hammered texture.

I added a fabric ribbon to go with my Country Christmas decor,
but it is cute just as it is...  I am not happy with my pictures of this project....

"It's so much cuter in PERSON!"

I could see these in a craft booth or a local store!
I cannot wait to yard sale this summer to get more
shades to do a bigger version.
