Its time again for another fabulous Lowe's Creative Ideas project and this month it is All About Mums!
So when I heard that was the theme I knew it would be a fun one to challenge myself with.
So after thinking about it for awhile...
And being inspired by Pinterest and pictures on Facebook....
I decided to do an entire week just about MUMS!
This vignette started with my favorite plaid fall rug and a new McCoy small pottery piece I got at a yardsale this weekend. Isn't it darling? I think it was $2! What a steal :)
I added it with some greenery and two containers of sedums. The green one is one that has been on the deck all summer. It is just a groundcover sedum start from the garden. But it has been so pretty even during the hot, dry weeks.
The hen and chicks is a new one from Lowe's, I loved the big fat petals. The container is from the same yardsale, I think this one was $1. It doesn't have any markings but I think it is old as well. Love the colors.
Another shot of the sedum. It was marked down to $3 and I will move it to my kitchen window for the winter then back outside next spring.
The mums I picked up were in the 4" pots. They were $1.99 and look beautiful. I love the smaller sized ones to tuck into nooks and crannies. I also have very good luck planting them and having them come back year after year if I buy the smaller sized ones.
I really loved the deep magenta color as well. They will be beautiful in the borders next year.
Okay, this is just day one! So come back for new ideas every day this week.

Welcome dear friends and new readers!
Welcome to our country home in Southern Indiana.
We built our home in 2006.
So it is a bit over six years old now...
The front gardens you see here are the oldest.
This is where I started in 2007, the front walks.
Now I have made my way around the house and back again.
But it is still some of my favorites areas.
We live way off the beaten path, about a mile from the highway on a gravel road.
It takes me about 5 minutes to get to our small town, but 30 minutes to get to Walmarts and such.
We love it out here. I would hate to ever have to live in town again.
We have forgotten want pizza delivery is and the luxury of walking to the store.
But we traded it for a 48 acre lake and wildlife at our backdoor.
But I will have to say I have been a bit shook up here lately.
We have a bobcat in the woods behind our house.
The neighbors have seen him and I have heard him twice. Scared me to half to death!
I don't know if you have ever heard a bobcat scream or whatever he does that makes that sound, but you will never forget it. I think it is more so because I have had the windows down in the house of an evening... But me and my little dog are staying pretty close after dark! I know they are more afraid of me and only are about 50 pounds, but dang.... that is one scary noise at night!
Thanks so much for stopping by and Happy Gardening!

Today I am featuring a very old rose called 'Coquette Des Blanches'.
If you have came to the house for a garden tour, it is the rose I can never think of the name of.
Not that you could just go and find this one, it is not regularly found in garden centers.
But believe to or not I got it as a bag rose about five years ago.
It is called a Hybrid Noisette Rose. It is classified as a Bourbon from 1871.
There are a few places online that do still carry it.
But I am over the moon happy to grow such a beautiful old, repeat blooming rose.
The soft pink color blends beautifully with the front walk colors.
And the delicate blooms are nearly as tall as I am, making them easy to smell and admire.
I grow several antique roses in my gardens.
But this is hands down the best performer and easiest of them.
I wish it had a stronger scent, but it makes up for it in blooms.
Thanks so much for stopping by and Happy Gardening!
