Country Living

Welcome dear friends and new readers!
Welcome to our country home in Southern Indiana.
We built our home in 2006.
So it is a bit over six years old now...
The front gardens you see here are the oldest.
This is where I started in 2007, the front walks.
Now I have made my way around the house and back again.
But it is still some of my favorites areas.
We live way off the beaten path, about a mile from the highway on a gravel road.
It takes me about 5 minutes to get to our small town, but 30 minutes to get to Walmarts and such.
We love it out here.  I would hate to ever have to live in town again.
We have forgotten want pizza delivery is and the luxury of walking to the store.
But we traded it for a 48 acre lake and wildlife at our backdoor.
But I will have to say I have been a bit shook up here lately.
We have a bobcat in the woods behind our house.
The neighbors have seen him and I have heard him twice.  Scared me to half to death!
I don't know if you have ever heard a bobcat scream or whatever he does that makes that sound, but you will never forget it.  I think it is more so because I have had the windows down in the house of an evening...  But me and my little dog are staying pretty close after dark!  I know they are more afraid of me and only are about 50 pounds, but dang.... that is one scary noise at night!

Thanks so much for stopping by and Happy Gardening!

  1. What a beautiful home! I suppose the bobcat wants to join you in the good life out there in the country. Can't blame him. Your garden is lovely!

  2. i am so envious of your garden! oh wow, that is scary to have a bobcat so close....we get bears around here...that's pretty scary too...some have been sighted in our neighborhood, even right next to my house! guess when we build in their homes, that's what we get!

  3. What a beautiful home. I'm popping by to visit from Katherine's linky!

  4. Brooke your garden is magnificent. The video tour was so much fun and I enjoyed listening to you as we walked along the rock paths. The pond( lake) in the back is something I dream of having as a view from my yard one day when we live in a cottage by the water. Thank you for sharing at the Thursday Favorite Things hop my friend xo

  5. You are giving me so many ideas for next spring! And we have coyotes that howl at night, so I know how you feel! :)

  6. Brooke,

Your garden is beautiful. I love the intermixture of various plants.

  7. How wonderful! We traded in city life for a location approximately five min. from our very little town and 30 min. from the town w/big stores... just like you, and just like where you are we have no pizza delivery (boo!!!), but I also wouldn't trade it for the world.

Your work is fabulous times ten!!

  8. Thanks for the garden tour...a bobcat would certainly make life more interesting! Love your house and garden!
