Lanier Mansion Gardens

You cannot go to Madison Indiana on a garden tour and not visit Lanier Mansion’s Formal Gardens.

The first things I loved was this long row of peony blooms.

The home is being restored right now, so a few of the pictures are from the website.

But here is the formal gardens that look onto the Ohio River.

I love the formal hedges…. that is a lot of work…but beautiful.

It is really just starting to bloom with old roses and heirloom plantings.

I bet it is lovely in the spring with the flowering trees.  We did not go in the mansion, but you can walk the grounds for free and enjoy the lovely views of the river and gardens.

  2. Hi Brooke-
    What a great tour. Thanks.
    I have some gardening questions.
Do you spray your roses to prevent disease or do you just wait to see if one develops?
How do you deadhead your roses?
Do you just pop them off, or do you clip them further down the stem?

    Thanks,
    Laura
