It was fall break with the girls this weekend….a four day weekend. :)
We headed to Turkey Run State Park, about 30 minutes North of Terre Haute.
We stayed one night at the inn. It is set in the woods and is surrounded by very mature plantings.
I especially liked this statue there.
Turkey Run is known for Sugar Creek…but it was too high and cold to canoe.
And miles of trails with waterfalls and cliffs to explore.
On Sunday we enjoyed downtown Indy.
Since we live in such a small town, it is always fun to see the skyscrapers.
A favorite was Circle Center Mall…..the biggest they had ever been to.
It was big sister’s 10th birthday, so she got to pick out most of her own presents.
She is a very spoiled girl….she got her ears pierced and a cell phone from us…plus countless things we “had to have” this weekend.
It was nice to get away, the leaves we’re really pretty. We drove home through Brown County/Bloomington area and stayed a second night there. It is always beautiful. But they are fading fast I’m afraid. Enjoy it while we can!
These picture are not the best, my setting we’re off and I could not tell till I downloaded them.
Happy Gardening…..Brooke
What a great overnight stay. Happy B-Day to the 10 year old. Our three younger girls all got their ears pierced when they turned 10 as well...No cell phones, yet..
ReplyDeleteWow, a birthday not to be forgotten.
ReplyDeleteOh, Turkey Run! I haven't been there since I was a kid. We loved tramping around there in the woods. My grandmother was originally from southern Indiana, so we often visited there for Covered Bridge season, then off to Turkey Run. Must return there some day. Thanks for sharing!
